Jakarta, (15/8). - there is many ways for Bank Indonesia as the banking regulator to robust increment of Islamic banking market share, among others are by way incentive the regulation, as explained by shariah director of bank Indonesia Mulya Siregar.

Mulya said that the method of this incentive, which was differed from tax incentive, when there is an innovative products introduced by one Islamic bank, other Islamic banks is not allowed to replicate the product for as long as 2 years, which mean that particular Islamic bank could freely introduce and promote the products to the general public with no competitors..

“For 2 years Bank Indonesia (BI) will pass on a better grade for that particular Islamic bank from having innovative products” said Mulya.

It is expected that with this incentive our Islamic banking system is more creative to produce innovative shariah products in order to increase the market share which is now only aout 3.7 percent. (ul)
